VALESKA HAGENEY, CURATOR AND WRITER 

 

Valeska Hageney moved to Berlin in 1999. She worked for various galleries in Berlin and was Managing Director of a Berlin Collection. In 2011, Valeska founded the project space REH Kunst, which she has led until September, 2013. Since January, 2016 she leads together with Mareike Spendel and Natalie Weiland the project space Centrum in Berlin-Neukölln.

ASTRID HAMM, SENIOR DIRECTOR, EIGEN + ART, BERLIN

 

Astrid Hamm graduated from the University of Leipzig in Cultural and Theatre Studies and has been working at Galerie EIGEN + ART since 2003. From 2005–09 she contributed to building the base of the Leipzig subsidiary at Leipziger Baumwollspinnerei and subsequently worked there. In 2012, she took on the management of the project space EIGEN + ART LAB at Ehemalige Jüdische Mädchenschule Berlin up until 2014. Since 2015, she is Senior Director at the Berlin headquarters of Galerie EIGEN + ART. Her work primarily involves Exhibition Management, Artist Mentoring and Sales.

BRITT JANINA HEINKER, ARTIST MANAGEMENT, ART CONSULTANT & CURATOR

 

Britt Janina Heinker studied cultural science and law (BA) at the University of Bremen and art museum & gallery studies (MA) at Newcastle University in Great Britain. After assisting at LWL State Museum for Natural Science in Muenster, Side Gallery for Photography in Newcastle upon Tyne and Circle Culture Gallery in Berlin and Hamburg, she is now working as an art consultant and project manager for different art- and cultural institutions such as the Berlin based companies coGalleries and GoArt!.Furthermore Britt is in charge of the studio management of collage/decollage artist Pola Brändle and artist duo Various & Gould and works as a freelance curator. 

 



ALINA HEINZE, MUSEUM DIRECTOR

 

Alina Heinze studied literature, history, and art history in Berlin and has worked for various newspapers. Since September, 2011, she is the director of THE KENNEDYS. The museum belongs to CAMERA WORK AG. Its permanent exhibition focuses on the much-cited Kennedy myth. Furthermore, the museum presents in-house curated special exhibitions on various themes several times a year. In association with Tina Sauerländer, Alina Heinze is one of the heads of SALOON.

ELIANA HEREDIA, PLASTIC ARTIST

 

Ever since my first approach to plastic arts I have been trying to conquer space in my artwork. In an attempt to evoke an aesthetic impression for the observer I create installations by remantisizing material from everyday life. The so produced installations offer a journey through timeless and psychological landscapes. In order to produce such views, I use everyday commodities that reacted in combination or when influenced by water, air or change of temperature. These materials show alteration and agitation because of their immanent psycho-chemical character.

JULIA HERFURTH, ARTIST

 

Julia Herfurth studied fine arts at Bauhaus University Weimar during which she spent six months in Istanbul. Since 2014 she studies Art in Context at University of Fine Arts Berlin at postgraduate level. Her works have been shown at national and international exhibitions and art festivals. In her work she is using different printmaking techniques, photography and installation to tackle environmental and eco-political topics, such as genetically modified seeds, herbicides, weeds and damage caused through chemicals.

KATIA HERMANN, INDEPENDENT CURATOR

 

Katia Hermann is a French-German independent curator, art historian and cultural manager. She studied cultural management and history of art in Paris, worked on documentary movie productions and managed exhibition productions in Paris. She curated several exhibitions in Berlin since 2001 for Kulturstiftung Schloss Britz, savvy contemporary, House of World Cultures, Humboldt Universität zu Berlin and alternative art spaces. Besides commissions, she is supporting artists with socially relevant subjects through own projects. She continues working as a writer and for film productions.

CARLA MERCEDES HIHN, ARTIST

 

Structures and views of cities, memories and atmospheres of certain spaces are the main themes Carla Mercedes Hihn´s installations are based on. She creates transparent images that interact with each other and with the space creating multiple levels of perception. People entering the space become part of the artwork.

STEFANIE IPPENDORF, ART EDUCATOR, AUTHOR, CURATOR


Stefanie Ippendorf co-founded art education-collective KUNSTKOMPLIZEN (Accomplices in Art), runs different workshops or gives guided tours at Martin-Gropius-Bau, within art education-projects of Staatlichen Museen zu Berlin and German Red Cross (DRK). She curated various exhibitions at Kunstraum Düsseldorf, Sammlung Philara (Düsseldorf), and Wagner + Partner (Berlin), being especially interested in aspects of failure. She writes numerous texts about art (audio guides, catalog essays, reviews).

MEGGIE JAWORSKI, GALLERY MANAGER AT SEXAUER AND PROJECT MANAGER

 

Directly after the graduation at the University of Leipzig, it was all about managing. First the SØR Rusche Collection Oelde/Berlin and since 2015 the SEXAUER Gallery in Berlin. In her spare time she keeps on managing, festival planning or artist assistance i.e. Next to the fine arts her professional interest draw her towards design and experimental music. Another project is a Phd, but that will come later.

MICHELLE JEZIERSKI, ARTIST

 

Michelle Jezierski’s paintings play with light, patterns, space and their effect on perception. Abstract landscapes are juxtaposed with striations of light which disturb the pictorial plane, creating the illusion of multiple spaces. Rejecting narration, the images are at once surreal and strangely evocative. Born in Berlin to American parents, she studied at the Universität der Künste in Berlin. Her work has been exhibited in Croatia, Israel, USA and Italy. She is held in the Simmons & Simmons, Lalux and Vattenfall collections among others.

CE JIAN, ARTIST

 

Ce Jian studied Fine Art at the UdK and Art History at the HU Berlin. Her paintings combine heterogeneous pictorial concepts, inquiring into the way image types and technologies have constantly changed the idea of nature and human beings, explaining and distorting them. To reflect these paradox dynamics between fact and fiction, she deliberately uses painting as a low-tech medium. Her installations deal with perspective and anamorphosis as an interface between flat and three-dimensional images. Exhibitions (among others) in Berlin, Dusseldorf, Beijing; art fairs COFA, Art Basel Hongkong (White Space Beijing).

EVA JORDAN, DIRECTOR OF ART VON FREI

With a long-standing international background as an artist/curator, Eva Jordan moved from New York to Berlin in 2014. In April, 2015, she opened Art von Frei, located at Brunnenstrasse 187, directly opposite of the U8 station Rosenthaler Platz in Mitte. The gallery holds seven exhibitions a year, showing works of the gallery artists, as well as selected guest artists. Represented mediums are collage, drawing, painting, sculpture, and performance. The program includes openings, performances, and artist talks. Outside of the gallery space, Art von Frei curates further exhibitions and participates in international art fairs.

LAURA KÄDING, ART HISTORIAN AND CURATOR

 

Laura Käding studied History of Art and Visual History in Jena and Humboldt-University Berlin, graduating with an MA in 2016. Her master thesis examines the work Internal Objects in Three Parts by Anish Kapoor, who she worked for in his London studio in 2013. 2013-2015 she worked at Contemporary Fine Arts Gallery Berlin, in 2016 she was studio assistant to Berlin based artist Julian Rosefeldt. Since 2016 she is freelancing as project manager on various art projects, e.g. the cross-genre collaboration Nicht Abstrakt and Not Abstract II of Andreas Gursky and Richie Hawtin, with exhibitions at K20 museum in Dusseldorf and Gagosian Gallery in New York.

 



BIANCA KENNEDY, ARTIST

 

Bianca Kennedy studied art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich and completed her diploma with a Meisterschüler-degree (2017). Scholarships have brought her to North America, Barcelona, Athens and Tokyo. Kennedy's animations, drawings and site-specific installations were shown at Kunstverein Munich, Kuandu Museum Taipei, C-Gallery Milan and Colombo Art Biennale in Sri Lanka among others. In her analytical stop motion animations she depicts the human abyss and works regularly on photographies and drawing series where she stages self-created miniatures.

MARTE KIESSLING, ARTIST AND CURATOR

 

Marte Kiesslings artwork is based on self-reflecting situations in the changing surroundings and the experiences she makes during residencies and projects around the world. She employs local legends, space and situations of the surroundings and cultural customs of the various countries, resulting in mixed-media animations, video, slides, light installations and objects combined in self-contained systems. Additionally she works with the international artist group Global Alien, which deals with globalization, migration and language and projects with various other artists from around the world.

MAILIN VON KNOBELSDORF, JURIST

 

Mailin von Knobelsdorff studied law in Würzburg, Berlin, and Tel Aviv. She focused on Intellectual Property, esp. the return of cultural goods. Then she worked for Emil Nolde Stiftung and at Raue LLP in Berlin. She is involved in several of Berlin's friend's associations in the arts and cultural sector and gives legal advice for Intellectual Property, esp. for the Young Friends of Prussian Palaces and Gardens Foundation Berlin-Brandenburg (the „Fritzen“) that she also co-founded.

JULIET KOTHE, CULTURAL SCIENTIST

 

Juliet Kothe is a cultural scientist and director of the Boros Foundation in Berlin. She worked at the Association of Arts and Culture of the German Economy at the Federation of German Industries (Kulturkreis der Deutschen Wirtschaft im BDI e. V.). Juliet Kothe also works as a freelance curator and writer. Since 2013 she voluntarily works for the NGO One Fine Day e. V. Together with the founder Marie Steinmann-Tykwer she supervises an on going art project in Nairobi with contemporary artists from Berlin.

KRISTINA KRAMER, CURATOR AND WRITER

 

Kristina Kramer is a curator for contemporary art living in Berlin since 2013. Previously, she was based in Istanbul where she has initiated, curated and organized numerous projects and exhibitions with young local and international artists. Among others, with Polistar she created a an exhibition space which was focused on a discursive perspective and international cooperation. In addition, she realized various community-based projects such as the travelling archive Even my mum can make a book (with Gamze Özer and Timothee Huguet). From 2013 to 2014 Kramer was working at the Berlin City Museum as part of the Fellowship International Museum initiated by the Federal Cultural Foundation. Most recently, she worked in Dresden at the German Hygiene Museum as assistant curator of the exhibition AIDS - Based on a true story.

JAQUELINE KRICKL, AUTHOR, LECTURER AND CURATOR

 

Jaqueline Krickl is lecturer for history of art, design, and media at Lette Verein Berlin, author and curator. She studied business administration, history of art, and cultural science. She is co-founder and member of the board of the art association Initiative temporäre Kunsträume e.V., within she realized the exhibition series Kunstraum AVUS (2008-2013) and co-published the related extensive documentation and analysis (2013). For contemporary artists she creates texts for catalogues, most recently for Claudia Brieske, Anlandung (2014).

CAROLINE KRYZECKI, ARTIST

 

Caroline Kryzecki is a Berlin based artist. She holds a Master of Fine Arts at the UdK Berlin (2009) and was an artist in residence in Istanbul (Berlin Senate), Mosambik and Tanzania (DAAD). Her artistic practice includes drawing, painting and in situ pieces. Currently she is mainly working on her large ballpoint pen drawings. Her works emerge between a mix from perfection and error. Exhibitions in Germany and abroad at Kunsthalle Exnergasse, Vienna, Polistar and Art International, Istanbul, Galerie fiebach, minninger, Cologne, Arratia Beer, Kwadrat, and Autocenter, Berlin. Caroline Kryzecki is represented by Sexauer Gallery.
